In 1969, Robert A. Rothschild was drafted into the army, joining some 500,000 troops in Vietnam. The veteran remembers the night recon mission when he stepped on a land mine near the Vietnamese DMZ.
The short film made its television premiere on Northern California Public Media, at the open and close of the PBS station’s broadcast of documentary series, The Vietnam War, by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. My Uncle Bobby screened in New York City at the People’s Film Festival and in London at the Portobello Film Festival.
